Extentia Information Technology expands presence in Singapore
Extentia Information Technology expands presence in Singapore through ‘Connect’ internship program
25 November, Pune, India – "Students worldwide are looking at international internship opportunities more than ever before," says Abhinav Kottalgi, (Associate VP Business Development) for software development and consulting firm Extentia Information Technology. "And that’s why our internship program is reaching out further and further each year."
Founded in 1998, Extentia has been accepting international interns for the past 8 years, primarily from Europe. Over the last 12 months, as part of an active effort to expand the program internationally, the company recruited interns from Singapore Management University (SMU). This fits with the company’s general expansion into the Singaporean market and the Asia Pacific region.
SMU interns work from Extentia’s delivery centers in Pune, India to learn more about marketing, technology, and project delivery, while getting a grasp on Indian business and culture. Additionally, they gain valuable real-world professional experience while working with Extentia’s international client base.
Describing his internship experience, Singaporean intern Maoyuan Zhang was enthusiastic about
Connect
"I learned a lot about real world software projects from my colleagues," he said. "Everyone was so friendly and tried to make my stay as pleasant as possible, which I appreciated very much."
While Extentia helps interns find their footing in international business, conversely, having mandarin-speaking Singaporean interns has brought benefits to Extentia as well. The interns were able to help their India based team-members better understand the subtle and not-so-subtle differences in business and cultural style. Extentia and SMU are already talking to the next set of interns interested in spending a few months at Extentia and are confident of the growing success of this partnership.
Singapore has many excellent businesses working in domains that Extentia knows well, requiring technologies that Extentia can deliver. With the help of the
Connect
program, Extentia has already partnered with several Singapore-based companies and is looking forward to working with more.culturally."
Extentia looks forward to partnering with more of Singapore’s world-renowned learning institutions as it continues to expand into one of the world’s most important markets.
Umeed Kothavala, Extentia CEO adds, "The
Connect
program has already seen immense success in Europe and other parts of the world. We have been hosting interns from many different countries for a number of years, and, moving forward, we are very enthused about reaching out to colleges and universities in the Asia Pacific region."
