Case Study – e-commerce solution: customized printing
A US company decided to develop a new website for their online custom printing business, specializing in print-on-demand stationary products for consumers, SMEs and small office/home office customers.
Extentia was chosen to develop a new website along with supporting applications including a web-based administration module and an order management system. The client also asked Extentia to handle integration with several third party systems (including SugarCRM).
Prajakta Mahajan (Engineering Manager, Extentia) describes the rationale behind the chosen technology solution: “It was clear that Commerce Server was the ideal basis upon which to build the new B2C site. Aside from providing lots of functionality out of the box, we were able to integrate Commerce Server with the third party systems already used by the customer.”
The Microsoft Commerce Server platform enabled Extentia to deliver a feature-rich commerce website, with the following core functionality:
An onsite-offshore hybrid development model was used to help meet the aggressive timelines of the customer. Extentia’s onsite team in the US ensured strong project coordination and technical support, while the development work was undertaken at Extentia’s development center in India.
