Pune – India: Extentia, a Microsoft Certified Gold Partner, today announced the successful development of their latest application based on SharePoint technology, developed for an Oilfield Services company. This is the latest in a series of industry-specific applications developed by Extentia using Microsoft Office SharePoint 2007.

Previously, the client had to use spreadsheets to enter their data. The process was very cumbersome since it required manual verification of all data entered. Maintaining multiple spreadsheets was not an easy task.

Mr. Steve Mathews, Field Manager of Rubicon Offshore International, describes the problem. “We had three vessels in three different locations. We needed to not only track inventory, but also the individual tasks assigned. The reports needed to be generated and made available to company HQ, all within a pre-determined time frame.”

However, Extentia had a solution. Umeed Kothavala, director at Extentia explains, “After observing Rubicon’s business challenge, we recognized that SharePoint was the ideal platform to address the Asset Management System. We used WSS 3.0, .NET and SQL Reporting Services to connect the vessels with company HQ via VSCAT link. The technology also made it possible to store data on production reports, vessel status, inventories and head count.”

The SharePoint Rostrum uses a central database accessible from multiple locations. Importantly for the Oilfield Services industry, SharePoint also enables a collaborative working environment and supports faster authentication and reporting. The technology can also be integrated with third party tools.

These technologies have been successfully integrated with the SharePoint platform to develop solutions for a range of industries.
