DGS, in partnership with Friends of Figma Pune, recently hosted the Config Watchparty 2026 at XEN LAB PNQ. Held on June 27, 2026, the event brought together designers, developers, creators, and design enthusiasts to experience Figma’s biggest annual conference live and connect with the local design community.
The Config Watchparty is a community gathering where designers and creators watch Figma’s biggest annual conference together and explore the latest product announcements.
The Watchparty Experience
The event began with a keynote by Saranic Banerjee, Experience Strategy Lead, who shared how design shapes the work we do at DGS. He also introduced XEN LAB PNQ and spoke about how it serves as a creative studio for workshops, experience design, and emerging technologies.
This was followed by the Config 2026 watchparty, where participants watched Figma unveil its latest product announcements and vision for the future of design.
The conversations didn’t stop there. Designers, developers, and creators came together to exchange perspectives on the announcements and discuss how the new capabilities could shape the future of design and product development.
The event also featured fun community activities, including Bingo, Figma Says, and a creative costume challenge where participants came dressed as their favourite Figma feature. These activities encouraged networking and brought the community together.
Highlights from Config 2026
Some of the major updates announced at Config 2026 included:
- Code Layers (Early Access): Designers can work directly with code-backed components inside Figma and sync changes with GitHub or local repositories.
- Figma Motion (Beta): A new motion design workspace for creating animations using keyframes or AI prompts.
- Generative Plugins (Open Beta): AI can now generate custom plugins directly inside Figma without writing code.
- Custom Shader Effects & Fills (Open Beta): Designers can create advanced visual effects and custom shaders using prompts.
- Figma Agent Upgrades (Open Beta): The AI agent now supports reusable workflows, web search, external attachments, and third-party integrations.
- Figma Weave Tools (Open Beta): New AI-powered workflows help speed up repetitive creative tasks such as background replacement and bulk style transfers.
- Platform Enhancements: Additional AI capabilities across FigJam and Figma Slides, along with improvements such as local font support and easier asset downloads.
